The Kansas City Star

Some of the most devoted music fans are those who make their own music. We asked a handful of people in Kansas City and Lawrence bands that will perform at Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest to list some of the bands they are looking forward to seeing over the weekend.

Nolle Bond, Sons of Great Dane: “I’m looking forward to the Belles. I haven’t gotten to see Chris (Tolle) play for them since the Creature Comforts reunion.”

Terrence Moore, the Silver Maggies: “Wovenhand is a must-see. I’m also excited for singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist acts Benoit Pioulard and Owen Pallett.”

Tommy Donoho, Dollar Fox: “Deerhoof or Jeff the Brotherhood. I’m also itching to catch Altos. I caught them at last year’s Middle of the Map, and they were absolutely amazing. Highly, highly recommended.”

Diego Chi, Making Movies:

  • Deerhoof: “Maybe the most abstract artist at the fest, a high-energy blend of noise, electronic, rock, more noise, and catchy pop.”

  • Tennis: “Alaina Moore’s vocals are nothing short of dreamy.”

  • Joy Formidable
