New restaurants plan July openings in Blue Springs, Independence and Overland Park
Kneaders Bakery & Café has set an opening date for its new Blue Springs location.
The first area Kneaders will open at 7 a.m. July 21 at 800 N.E. Coronado Drive. The first 100 customers on July 21 and July 22 will receive a free Chunky Cinnamon French Toast.
Ten percent of sales July 21 also will be donated to FosterAdopt Connect and 10 percent of sales on July 22 will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.
Kneaders offers nine different made-from-scratch breads and 42 different pastries, along with soups, sandwiches and salads. Because its turkey, bacon and avocado sandwiches and salads are among the most popular orders, the bakery goes through 2.5 million pounds of its slow-roasted hand-pulled turkey annually.
The Blue Springs store will be the chain’s 57th location. It will have a drive-thru and online ordering capabilities, as well as a retail shop offering custom-made and themed gift baskets and home decor items.
It will have a bread donation partnership with Vesper Hall 50+ Community Center in Blue Springs.
Kneaders’ hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is closed Sunday.
A location at 621 E. Markey Parkway, Belton, is now scheduled to open in late summer, and a location at 12180 Blue Valley in Overland Park is scheduled to open in early January 2018.
▪ Jazz - a Louisiana Kitchen plans an 11 a.m. July 13 opening in Independence. It took over a freestanding building at 19700 E. Valley View Parkway that formerly housed El Maguey Mexican Restaurant and then Stroud’s for a short stint.
▪ Maggiano’s Little Italy plans to open for dinner July 24 in Overland Park’s Corbin Park, 7025 W. 135th St. It offers a made-from-scratch, Italian-American menu. After opening day, it will be open for lunch and dinner daily.
